watering can be rethougt
avatar jan | posted 1160 days ago
The idea consists in reusing PET and glass bottles. A PET closing piece is able to fit different shapes of bottles and to change it into a watering can.

I don't understand why there has been so much fuss surrounding this product. A plastic bottle is already usable for watering plants - no extra plastic gadget attached. In my book this defeats the purpose entirely by creating yet another wasteful object without offering a needed solution.

hello tydelig, ofcourse fundamentally you have a point. but the effect of this element might be that more people would start using water bottles as watercans, and not buy a new one. another aspect is aesthetics and i must say this 'gadget' somehow manages to turn the whole ugly PET-bottle into a new fresh tool. The last argument is ergonomy; though it is possible to fill flowerpots with a wide open hole ( bit depending on size and tye of flower and pot, this new top makes it much easier and with less spilling of water.

btw. what is your book? i would like to see it.

This is indeed not very environment friendly: you have to create an extra part. a part which the bottle can do without watering plants.

as to aestethics: aestethics is one of the reasons why we have so much polution.

ergonomy? PLEASE!? you water your plants once a week...

the only advantage i see is teaching people in a 'fun' way that plastic bottles don't need to be thrown away immediatly.

i say, lets start putting HUGE deposits on plastic...
