A new jetty made from recycled plastic is expected to improve access for boat users on Tasmania’s east coast.
The jetty at Swansea was built using almost 90,000 plastic milk containers and other recycled materials.
Labor M-H-A Michael Polley says sand shifting around the old jetty was making it difficult for people to use the area and it is hoped the new design will fix the problems.
“This is certainly a much needed facility,” Mr Polley said.
“It will help the economy because if you cannot launch a boat at Swansea it is detrimental to the local economy.”
