Melle Koot* isn’t the only designer who made the connection between an umbrella and a light. New York city based Shelly Sabel, lighting designer, has designed the Umbrella Chandelier.
It’s made from rather simple components: found umbrella pieces, aluminum, and porcelain sockets. The umbrella’s have been installed at two separate shows in 2009 already: at American Design Club’s â€œHue Are You?â€ as well as DIFFA’s* 2009 â€œDining by Design.â€ *Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS
